Doctor of Philosophy

The PhD degree is for students who wish to pursue a career in academic or industrial research in geoscience. To receive a PhD, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to conceive and carry out high-quality, original research. General completion time is 3-4 years for students entering with an M.S., and 4-5 years for others. See the Graduate College Handbook for information about time limits set by the Graduate College.
